Here is a good article about how badly made and insecure my Gov is: Multiple Vulnerabilities in my Gov, the Australian Government Single-sign-on Solution for Citizen Services. I had a My Gov account for Medicare so I added ATO.So when I completed my tax last night and input my details, voila! I can't believe how many people must wear foil in their underwear so the Gov doesn't get them. But that's because the details I'm providing don't match the details they have on file for me for some reason.Completed all the relevant fields, pre-filling fields etc and got to the lodgement page and asked for MYGov details (username and password), and clicked to go on and yes to submit. Maybe this is a technical glitch and ETax aint speaking with MYGov website etc. There seems to be some 'acknowledgement' of an issue on the ATO website and at which notes that -"e-tax & my Gov – We are currently investigating a known issue impacting e-tax and my Gov (error 5077 & 5072).Now I get is a nice box saying 'Error' saying ETax does not like my MGov details. We apologise for the inconvenience and are working on resolving the issue, please try again later." There still are paper tax packs, ATO just made them unavailable in news agents. There are only two options now to submit tax return at all:• paper,• my Gov account. Al least we still have our last chance to have a say by sending paper this year.
You also need a my Gov account linked to the ATO." So e-tax 2014 can be used to complete the form manually (without any prefilling), then print it out and send to ATO. E-Tax tries to validate the my Gov credentials but eventually (after several minutes) fails with a '5077' error.Well, actually, there still is a choice: paper tax return form. And this is precisely what ATO is getting from me this year.Could it be that it's just too early and that they don't have all the details on me yet? But that's because the details I'm providing don't match the details they have on file for me for some reason.
